A Seat for the Sea
A Seat for the Sea is an artistic research project coordinated by Greet Brauwers, in duo with Raf Custers.
A Seat for the Sea knows that the sea has a voice and wants to amplify it. This project operates in the midst of a societal and planetary crisis but with a perspective of sustenance. At the centre of our attention is deep-sea mining, a stealth industry getting ready to extract metals from the pristine vastness of the ocean's depths. Yet, 'the water does not belong to us, it belongs to itself'. Therefore : when the Invisible so intervenes, it is high time to imagine the Unthinkable.
